This Saturday, we are away at Otley for Match Day #6. We are currently 6th in the table and, after a series of incredibly close results, the over-riding emotion last Saturday for players and coaches, was frustration that we’d not closed the game out in the final minute. Our game management and situational awareness needed to be better. After putting ourselves 7 points ahead, with only a minute left on the clock, we tried to over-play, gave possession up on the halfway line and allowed Tynedale to put us under pressure. Tynedale are a good team, and when they went into our 22 in the closing stages of the game, they backed themselves to get the score and ultimately clawed back a draw.
At Otley, we expect another tough game. They have established themselves as a solid National Two side, and they are strong at home. They have had a mixed season in terms of results. They were beaten last weekend (38-15), away at Sheffield, but they have beaten Wharfedale comfortably (44-31), and they have pushed Leeds Tykes close (20-24). As always, we will need to focus on our game for 80 minutes.
Finally, we have a coach loads of ex-players making the journey over to support us today! Enjoy the game, and a huge thanks for the support- I’m sure the boys will hear you from the stand!
