After a week off, National League 2 North action resumes at Lightfoot Green this Saturday with Billingham the visitors in a 2:30pm kick off.
Billingham currently sit in 10th on 16 points with a record of 3 wins, 1 draw and 4 losses from their 8 games. Interestingly Hoppers have the exact same record but sit 6 points and 4 places higher in the table thanks to picking up more bonus points.
Top try sorer for Billingham is Joseph Ross with 5 and leading the points scoring overall is Ryan Foreman with 26 points. For Hoppers, Harry Holden still leads the way with 12 tries and Greg Smith the overall points with 75. Harry is in a share of the lead for the overall league, tied with Nathan Beesely (Lymm) whilst Greg Smith sits in third behind Lewis Minikin (Hull Ionians) (101) and Thomas Shard (Lymm) (93).
Looking ahead to the game Hoppers Head Coach Dan Orwin said "Today we host Billingham, who are currently 10th in the league table. They started the season relatively well with a home win over Harrogate (33-12), an away draw at Tynedale (19-19), and an impressive home win against Otley (19-17), but they have struggled for consistency since. Like us, Billingham play on an AGP, and certainly seem more comfortable on this surface. We will need another solid performance today if we are to get the win."
He added "We have shown over recent weeks that we are learning as a a team, and we are able to adapt tactically during the game if needed. We speak a lot about the importance of keeping possession, particularly in and around the opposition 22 as we look to build pressure, and we speak a lot about being accurate and clinical when we get chances. Overall, we have been happy with our defensive improvements recently, but we need to concentrate and work hard during every sequence of play."
