On Saturday, we head to Wharfedale for Match Day #10. An outstanding 2nd half performance at home to Billingham last Saturday, saw us score 34 unanswered points, and resulted in a 48-22 bonus point win. We have hit some good form recently and as a group, we are keen to keep this going. We feel that the areas we’ve focused on in training, on our attack, are starting to show in our performances. Anyone who saw the game on Saturday would agree that our attacking game was superb, with threats all over the pitch. Jenson Hamilton made Hoppers debut of the bench and looked sharp, scoring a great try.
Although we’ve worked hard in training again this week, and we are focused on what we need to do at Wharfedale to get a result, we are under no illusions that this will be an easy task. In the past two seasons, we have lost both games at Wharfedale. Wharfedale, by their standards, have a had a mixed set of results this season and are currently 5th in the table. Last Saturday, they were beaten at Sheffield (43-20) but won their previous two games against Hull Ionians (30-24), and Billingham (40-17). Their game against us on Saturday will be their 6th home game of the season, compered with just 4 away.
Finally, a huge thanks once again to John Freeman and the 1869 club for their unwavering loyalty, and for always travelling to support the team on away fixtures!
