I am excited for the start of the upcoming season; the women have been working hard over the summer to prepare themselves for what is to come.
We had a good first season back in at NC2, with lots of new players to the team and to the sport, slotting in well into the team and with some solid performances against some well drilled and established teams.
Each season brings its own challenges, this one is no exception, with the team having to overcome long travel times against many teams across Yorkshire and Cumbria. However, I am confident in the team’s ability to overcome those challenges, as we showed on multiple occasions last season.
Physically, the team is stronger, more adept with ball in hand and in the contact area, as well as mentally resilient, after overcoming new situations and challenges faced last season. We learnt many lessons last year, from disappointing losses to euphoric victories, and I have no doubt that we can compete and progress again this season, learning more about ourselves each week and improving with each new lesson this season.
