In the final game before the festive period, the Christmas crackers were being popper early in a highly entertaining and hard fought game of rugby, something you would love to witness at any level of the game. Two early tries from Hoppers alerted Skipton to how tough a game this could be and they managed to get their noses ahead just after the half time break.
Some stout and resolute defending from Preston with Skipton inside the red zone for the majority of the second half but could not make it count, a break away try from I. Malyon, a hattrick and 100% kicking off the tee from co-captain J. Wright kept Preston ahead. However, Skipton were not done and continued to apply pressure, inching closer with each carry but was met with resistance from Hoppers who denied their efforts putting their bodies quite literally on the line! With injuries taking us down to only 13 on the field, a huge final defensive effort was made finally dislodging the ball from our opposition allowing the referee to blow the final whistle on a remarkable game of rugby.
Hoppers make it 2 wins to sign off the year and to revel in the hard for put in over the last few weeks. Skipton still remain at the top of the league but it looks to be a very exciting second half of the season coming in the new year!
